JGRoyal oak, MIAugust 26, 2026First we must congratulate the owners who painstakingly restored the London Chop to its original grandeur. It looks just the same, minus a few famous caricatures, as my first time to dine there in 1970 when it was the hottest ticket in town. This time we were celebrating our 58th wedding anniversary and the 49th birthday of our son. I keep notes on what we order each time and it makes it hard to venture out and try something new when we each have so many favorites. One longtime favorite that is missing is the dark brown bread with raisins. We keeping hoping to see it make a comeback. Thankfully the gold brick sundae is still on the menu since my husband and parents discovered it in 1970!! But it is not just the above that make it so special. It's the staff. It begins at the door when the man with the melodious voice greeted us. The lovely Yollette gratiously welcomed us at the front desk with literally open arms. She made sure she introduced us the general manager who made us feel like VIPs. Our server Megan knocked herself out checking with kitchen so that our 11 year old grandson would not be exposed to any of his serious food allergies. We seriously appreciated her dedication!!! The food is always prepared to perfection and garnished beautifully. Our kudos to the chef and kitchen staff!!! We loved the songs the pianist selected, old and new, that we love to hear. And not so loud that it's impossible to have a conversation with the person seated next to you. And one last thing. The ladies room was immaculate. I didn't see anyone touching it up but hats off to the person who does. It all made into an unforgettable evening for young and old at our table and we thank you, one and all!!!
