On a cool fall night the outdoor heaters radiated as much heat as we could stand. We advised the server of our food sensitivity; she gladly replied she would get advice from the chef on accommodations. Then we waited - it could have been 10 minutes or more. This was the first delay. After ordering drinks, starters and mains, we settled in. The starters arrived. Drinks took another 10 minutes arriving as we had already finished the starters. We can attest that our request for foccaccia to serve 4 only arrived as a 2-person starter. Fortunately, we had ordered the kennebec potatoes as a second. Warmed plates kindled the setting for our mains. Satay tempeh was most notable for the fuyu persimmon sriracha and snap peas with some spicy flavor. Red Kuri squash offered sweet creamy yams, paneer of tofu, and mint chutney. But the butternut squash lacked flavoring. Finally the rigatoni brought sublime flavors of veg-based cream and cheese. All in all, the cuisine was fairly adventurous, but lacking in satiety. Although we all declined dessert, I was ready to gourge on a half package of kettle chips at home. Lastly, our OpenTable request included a birthday event. Nothing was negotiated prior to our seating, but at the conclusion of our meal, the server brought out a saucer dish with a single cake candle. Almost a passing thought for something that could easily have made up for the other deficiencies.
