Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse started way back in 1926 as a speakeasy, but today it is an iconic steakhouse that's known for having some of the best steaks, chops, and more in the city. Legend has it that the original speakeasy patrons had to knock on an unmarked door and use the password "Frankie" to get in, and if the coast was clear to enter, the reply would be "Johnnie". Frankie and Johnnie stuck as a moniker, and at this location in the heart of the Theater District, you'll find plenty to love. It's a spacious spot with an elegant and polished interior, a long bar, and plenty of room for fabulous dining. Treat yourself to the prix fixe menu and enjoy a salad, entree, and dessert for a set price. Or, pick from USDA Prime dry-aged steaks like a juicy ribeye, filet mignon, or porterhouse for two. The chops are equally decadent, with picks like lamb and pork chops. Fresh-from-the-water seafood is also featured, and the filet mignon and lobster tail combo is not to be missed. The aged ribeye was cooked to perfection....perfect medium. The filet and lobster tail was also delicious. Very fresh flavorful lobster tail. The service was excellent and the location is perfect for before a Broadway show. Also easy to get in and out ...no big crowds.

Amazing. We walked in and could smell we were in for a treat. A steakhouse with all the accouterments and level of service I've had all over the world. I can't say a bite we had wasn't amazing. Excellent wine and cocktail options, get the Bee's Knees...the steaks were cooked to perfection. Had the lump crab cocktail, that was so flavorful that you only needed the lemon, but the in-house cocktail sauce was yummy. Steakhouse side of fresh spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil whose quality you can taste. The shrimp of the surf & turf alone is worth coming back for. I will add this spot to a must visit the next time I'm in the city.
