• Regrettably, today I have to give Baires a poor rating because of the attitude of our server Juan. I ordered chicken and I got beef instead. I HATE the taste, texture and smell of beef and I would NEVER order it. When I finally get his attention, he actually looks at me dismissively and questions if I had really ordered chicken. He never even apologized for the error! He then gives it to the server assistant to bring back to the kitchen because he was too busy singing happy birthday to larger groups. For over 20 minutes he totally avoided eye contact until I finally had to raise my voice to call him - still no apology - then I had to wait some more. The rest of my party finished eating with leftovers packed when I got my order. I am still upset three hours later. I suppose this is what happens in restaurants that add the tip automatically; bad servers are not accountable for bad performance. I accept/forgive that everyone makes mistakes, but OWN IT! A good server apologizes and tries to expedite the incorrect order and apologizes again. His job is to make me, the paying client feel good and well served. Juan is very lucky that our server assistant (sorry I don't remember his name) was very efficient, accommodating and had a bright and pleasant smile. Otherwise, I would have revoked the automatic tip. And by the way, the "free" dessert for the table did not make up for the lack of accountability and the long wait. IF I come back, I will make sure that Juan is not my server.
