Food was tasty and fresh.
SSWinter Garden , FLApril 20, 2026Just this morning I told someone I wanted to do something wild and crazy for lunch today, and they said, "You've got to go to the Broken Compass Tiki Bar in Burbank, it is Fabulous!". Sounded right up my street, so I rounded up two friends, and we arrived at 12:30, where the place was already packed with regulars, families, all sorts of people just loving the vibe of entering into a world of Tiki -- we loved it from start to finish! The decor is insanely fun, the bartenders and waiters couldn't have been nicer, the food was very good (dill pickle cheese soup? A first, but not a last!), and the ambiance was exactly what we needed to take us to another world. Not fancy, not pretentious, very reasonably priced considering most LA places, just an all-around blast! Coincidentally, my family is visiting Ft. Lauderdale, and unbeknownst to me, they were at the Mai-Kai (talk about a Tiki bar!) there at the same time I was at the Broken Compass....I guess it was a telepathic Tiki Bar day for the Beach family, and I can't thank the Broken Compass enough (our bartender, Daniel, was terrific!) for making West Coast tiki dreams come true!
