Always a pleasure to eat here!
RRChicago, ILAugust 24, 2025Love Andie's! Healthy and delicious food and add a glass of wine or Margarita fir a perfect weeknight meal!
PSChicago, ILAugust 07, 2025We've eaten at Andie's in the past and really enjoyed it. But this particular visit was really disappointing. Although it wasn't very busy at all (maybe 3 or 4 other tables in the restaurant), it took almost 30 minutes after we were sat for the lone server come over and greet us/pour us water. Because of that wait, we ordered drinks, apps, and dinner at that point. I could tell that the server was either new or just filling in as a favor and wasn't really paying attention to their tables or helping with expo service at all. Pretty sure the owner was doing all the expo-ing and water/drink/food running by himself while the server and the host just sat around. Our apps came out about 20 minutes later (before our drinks did). We had the saganaki and a large Greek salad to share. The salad was mostly romaine lettuce cores and huge chunks of onion. When our entrees finally came out (we ordered the gyro platter and the trio kabobs), the food was cold (like the plates had been sitting in the window for some time), and the meat on each dish was almost inedible. The kefta and steak kabobs were burnt and had a bad gas-like aftertaste. The gyro was also burnt and dry. We couldn't finish it, and we didn't want to wait for another 30+ minutes just to flag someone down to send it back. So, we decided to leave. Trying to pay was also a strange, time-consuming experience. When the server didn't come back to our table after dropping the check, I went to the host stand to try and pay the tab. The host was sitting at the bar and not paying attention. After about 5-10 minutes, some random older man (not the host) came up to the host stand and asked if I needed help. I just said I needed to pay. And he took my card out of my hand and started walking back toward the kitchen with it. At the same time that was happening, the host finally came up and asked what I needed. I told him I needed to pay but that this guy walked off with my card. The host retrieved my card and then told me to hang on while he went to get our server to handle running it. While he was looking for the server, they walked up to the host stand and asked if I needed anything. And I said that the host was trying to find them to give them my card to pay. We spent almost 2 hours in that place--mostly just waiting. And the food was just not good. I'm not sure what's happened, but we recall Andie's being a solid mid-week date night spot. After this bizarre experience, I'm not sure we'll return.
The establishment replied to this review on July 23, 2025Dear NM, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about your recent experience- it’s clear we fell short in several important areas, and for that, we sincerely apologize. What you described does not reflect the level of service and food quality we strive to provide at Andie’s. Delays in service, lack of attentiveness, and especially issues with the food itself are not acceptable, and we take your comments seriously. We understand how frustrating it must have been to wait such a long time, only to be served cold or poorly prepared dishes. We also appreciate you pointing out the confusion at checkout. Your concerns regarding staff attentiveness and service flow are being reviewed internally so we can take immediate steps to improve. Whether someone is new or filling in, it’s our responsibility to ensure all guests are treated with care and professionalism. We’re especially disappointed to hear this was such a stark contrast to your previous visits. Your loyalty means a great deal to us, and we’d love the opportunity to make this right. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us directly at andieschicago@gmail.com so we can personally apologize, invite you back for a complimentary dinner and for the kind of experience you deserve. Thank you again for your feedback - it helps us grow. Warm regards, Andie Owner & Andie’s Restaurant Staff 773-784-8616NMChicago , ILJuly 22, 2025Great neighborhood gem!
